Are sessions online or in-person?

All Northstar Academic Prep sessions are conducted online via video call. This allows us to work with students anywhere and keeps scheduling flexible — no commute, no location limits, just focused 1-on-1 instruction from your own space.
Do you offer a free trial session?

We don't offer trial sessions, and here's why: our free strategy call gives you far more than a trial ever could. During that call, we walk you through a detailed week-by-week plan, a full progress tracker, and actual instructor materials used with prior students. You'll see exactly what to expect — every week — before you commit to anything. We believe that level of transparency is more valuable than a single sample session.
Who are your tutors?

Every tutor on our team is an admit from a top UC school who earned a 5 on the specific AP exam they teach — within the last 18 months. We don't match students with tutors who vaguely "know the subject." We match them with someone who recently mastered that exact exam, understands current College Board trends, and knows exactly what it takes to score a 5 right now.
Can my student switch tutors?

Absolutely. If your student isn't connecting with their assigned tutor, we'll match them with another specialist from our team at no additional cost. We take fit seriously — the right tutor-student relationship makes a real difference, and we won't leave you stuck in one that isn't working.
What is your refund policy?

If a student completes a tutor switch and is still unsatisfied with the program, we'll provide a full refund for all remaining unused hours. Sessions that have already been completed are non-refundable. We stand behind our work — and if we're not the right fit, we won't hold you to it.
What subjects and grade levels do you serve?

Our primary focus is AP exam preparation across all subjects — STEM, humanities, social sciences, languages, and more. We also offer finals preparation for common core high school courses like Algebra 2, and foundation-building support for advanced middle school students preparing for the PSAT or getting ready to take their first AP courses. If your student is in high school or is an advanced middle schooler, we can help.
What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be counted as a completed session. We understand that life happens — if something urgent comes up, please reach out directly and we'll work with you.
How do I know which program is right for my student?

That's exactly what our free strategy call is for. We'll ask about your student's current standing, upcoming courses, exam dates, and goals — and we'll recommend the program that fits best. There's no pressure and no obligation. You'll leave with a clear picture of what we'd do and why.
How quickly can we get started?
